Shark River Golf Course Bunker & Tee Renovations Project Awarded to Turco Golf

NEPTUNE CITY, NJ – The Monmouth County Park System has awarded an extensive bunkers and tees renovation project at the municipal 18-hole Shark River Golf Course to Turco Golf Inc. of Pompton Lakes, NJ. The project calls for bunker improvements to holes 6, 7, 8, 15 and 16, as well as new tees at hole 16. The project aims to build on recent course improvements by the Monmouth County Park System.
The golf course maintenance staff has been busy at Shark River Golf Course in recent years, steadily making improvements to the course, including new or rebuilt tees at holes 2, 5, 6, 7, 11, 13 and 14. They’ve also eliminated at least a half dozen bunkers deemed unnecessary, and built or improved on another ten. A new irrigation system was also installed on the golf course in 2017.
The Monmouth County Park System cites several reasons for undertaking the bunker renovation project at this time. Modifications to the course over the years have left many bunkers out of play, poorly positioned, too challenging and lacking visibility to golfers. The new bunkers will be installed or relocated to challenge the experienced golfer, but not overly penalize the average golfer. In addition to the benefits afford to its golfers, Shark River Golf Course’s bunker renovations also allow for new drainage to be installed, drastically reducing the course’s maintenance costs.
Construction of the Shark River Golf Course Bunker & Tee Renovations Project is scheduled to begin late 2018 and is expected be completed by May 2019.
